My Freelance Journey into IoT with Node.js at Vopak Rotterdam

My New Adventure: Freelancing with Node.js and IoT at Vopak Rotterdam
I'm excited to share that I've started a new freelance position at Vopak in Rotterdam! It’s always a great feeling to embark on a new chapter, and this one is particularly special. It’s a fantastic opportunity to see Node.js being used in environments beyond the traditional web, and I'm really looking forward to diving into the world of IoT.
A New Challenge: From Web to Industrial IoT
Working with the Internet of Things (IoT) is a new frontier for me, and that's what makes it so motivating. The idea of connecting physical devices, gathering data, and building systems that interact with the real world is incredibly compelling. Seeing a versatile technology like Node.js power these kinds of industrial applications is a testament to its flexibility and power.
I'm eager to help the team with their technical challenges and contribute to their projects. The new colleagues have been amazing and made me feel right at home from day one, which makes all the difference when starting somewhere new.
What I'm Looking Forward To
There are a few things that stand out about this new role that I'm particularly excited about:
- Diving into IoT: It's a completely new domain for me and a great chance to learn and grow my skills.
- A Welcoming Team: The positive and friendly atmosphere has made the start incredibly smooth.
- The Rotterdam Vibe: I love this city! It's my go-to place for most of my activities, so working here is a huge plus.
- Balancing Projects: I started with just a few days a week, which means my own project, word-flux, can still get the attention it needs to keep moving forward.
The Road Ahead
I'm ready to tackle the challenges ahead and am grateful for this opportunity to blend my existing skills with new knowledge in a dynamic environment. It feels like the perfect next step, combining my love for code, my interest in new technologies, and my appreciation for the city of Rotterdam. Let the adventure begin!
