Angry developers duo to google update
Google forced an update on a developer's tool and it's not received well😅. I've never seen so many angry people online at the same time😅. I scrolled for minutes without reaching the bottom of the bad comments list. Hundreds of angry developers who use Google's Antigravity for coding.
The Vanishing editor: Google completely removed the traditional code editor, terminal and file tree from the main app, replacing it with a pure chat/voice based "vibe coding" interface.
Though AI makes coding allot easier, as software developers we still need to manually review, trace and edit code. We aren't ready to fully hand over the steering wheel to a black box which stills makes mistakes😇.
The 2.0 update auto installed for many users mid project. It wiped out active workspaces, local context and extensions without warning or consent.
While the classic code editor does still exist as a separate download, the communication was so fragmented that thousands of users assumed the feature was dead. Even worse, those who tried to install the separate IDE faced authentication loop errors and backend bugs. Some mentioned loosing hours to this issue today.
Companies are innovating at a rapid pace, but when managing a huge user base, caution is key with major updates. Move too recklessly and you risk losing your biggest fans 👌.
