Signing Off: A Fond Farewell to Mediahuis

Today marks my final day as a freelance Backend Engineer at Mediahuis NV Belgium. It's been an incredible journey, and I'm immensely grateful for the opportunity to have contributed to their innovative platform and talented team.

Highlights from the Backend

As a Backend Engineer, I had the pleasure of working on the complex systems that power major news titles like De Telegraaf and Het Nieuwsblad. My primary focus was on building robust solutions to connect and automate critical processes. Some key aspects of my work included:

• Developing scalable applications with Node.js and Nest.js.
• Deploying and managing services using Kubernetes for high availability.
• Leveraging RabbitMQ for reliable asynchronous communication between systems.

More Than Just Code

My experience wasn't just about technology. I also had a great time immersing myself in the culture and even picked up a few essential Belgian phrases along the way, from a hearty "allee!" to a classic "das ambetant" (and maybe even a "godvermiljaardedju" when the code wasn't cooperating 😉).

A huge thank you to the entire team at Mediahuis for the collaboration, the challenges, and the good times. I wish you all the best for the future of the platform. On to the next chapter!
